A federal grand jury indicts a Steelton Borough man on gun charges. The indictment against 26 year old Donnell Thomas stems from a February 2013 incident when Thomas attempted to ram a Harrisburg City Police cruiser. He then attempted to flee the scene, discarding a firearm with an obliterated serial number from the waistband of his pants. After he was caught, police found bags containing an alleged control substance on him and in his vehicle.
Charges against Thomas include Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of a Firearm in furtherance of Drug Trafficking, Possession with intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number.
If convicted, Thomas faces a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
