Suspect identified in shooting of 15 yr. old Lancaster City girl

Lancaster City Police identify the alleged shooter of a 15 year old city girl Wednesday night as 16 year old Manuel “Chucky” Ortiz, Jr. He is an hispanic male about 5 feet 7 inches tall, 125 pounds. He has short dark hair, and light complexion. His last known address was in the 300 block of Hand Avenue, Lancaster.

A warrant has been issued for Ortiz’s arrest. He is charged as an adult because he allegedly used a deadly weapon.  Charges against Ortiz include Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm by a Minor,  and Possession with Intent to Deliver Heroin.

Investigators say Ortiz shot the victim during a domestic dispute in a second floor room of the girl’s home in the 700 block of East Fulton Street. A search of the crime scene revealed a .38 caliber handgun, believed to have been used in the shooting.  Police also found 51 bags of Heroin in Ortiz’s jacket pocket, which he left behind when he ran from the scene.
