Lawmakers met in Washington to start negotiations on a budget deal in hopes to avoid another government shutdown in January.
U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania Pat Toomey is a part of these talks . The Senator talking about the budget on FOX43 morning news today. He’s part of a select group of lawmakers that met for the first time yesterday on a bi-partisan panel to come up with a long term budget plan. He said it was a chance for everyone to make a case for what they want out of the budget. Toomey said he has moderate goals for this budget including avoiding another government shutdown.
“ I want to make sure we fund the government and keep the government open and end government manufactured crises. There’s no need for lurching from crises to crises so I’m hoping we can save the money we’re supposed to save and end these crises, “ says Senator Toomey, (R) Pennsylvania
He said the goal is to reach an agreement for funding the Government for the remainder of the fiscal year to avoid any kind of issues in January when the current funding bill expires.
