A girl and her father are safe after the pair be came lost on state game lands on Sunday in Lebanon County.
According to police reports, Earl Furman, 54, and his 8-year-old daughter went for a hike around 2 p.m. along Gold Mine Road in Cold Spring Township.
Authorities were contacted around 8 p.m. after a family member became concerned when the pair never returned home from hiking. Furman’s family told police they found his vehicle unattended in the parking lot of the trail and that he was not answering his cell phone.
By 8:30 p.m. dozens of search and rescue teams were canvasing the area for the missing hikers. A state police helicopter was also brought in to assist with the search.
The pair were found shortly before midnight about 300 yards off the trail and a mile away from their vehicle.
Police say both were very cold, but uninjured.
