A York County woman will hold a fundraiser Sunday and part of the money will go to help her family in the Philippines in the wake of the Super Typhoon.

Amalia Gohn owns Amalia Beauty Boutique and Spa in Red Lion. On Sunday, she’ll hold a ballroom dancing event at Agape Professional Center in York from 2 to 5 pm.

She plans to raffle off gift baskets and send the money back to the Philippines. Her family lives in Leyte and she says their homes were destroyed and badly damaged.

“It’s so sad, some of my family they’ve blown their roof, but thank God that they’re alive and they just don’t have the house,” says Gohn. “So I told them pray about it and I will do what I can do.”

The fundraiser will also benefit her charity, Dream Beauty Pageant Scholarships.

You can call the store at (717) 881-3555 for more information.

Awesome idea! Best of luck in your sale. It's easy for us to feel helpless when something like this happens so far away from us, and this is a great way to do something about it.
