As the new hunting season approaches, people are encouraging Pennsylvania hunters to donate venison to help feed the hungry.

Hunters Sharing the Harvest is a group that helps hunters donate deer meat to the 1.5 million people in Pennsylvania who are at risk for hunger.

Hunters can take their deer to one of 90 participating meat processors throughout the state.

The meat is then processed into ground venison and distributed to food banks and soup kitchens.

The Hunters Sharing the Harvest program began in 1991 and provides over 700,000 meals to food banks and soup kitchens every year.
