With 43 million people expected to travel this week, people are gearing up to hit the roads and airways.
One of the busiest travel days of the year is upon us as central Pennsylvania gets its first wintery mix of the season.
“My flight was delayed about an hour and a half and then they actually switched me to a different plane which didn’t leave for about 45 minutes, later than it was supposed to,” says Alicia Addison.
Alicia Addison flew into Harrisburg International Airport to visit her family for Thanksgiving.
She experienced her first delayed airplane, but says it could’ve been worse.
“I’ve heard of people who’ve had delays for like a day, day in a half, so at least I didn’t have to spend the night at the airport, I’m happy,” says Addison.
Scott Miller, an airport spokesperson, is expecting 24,000 people to go in and out of HIA over the next week.
He says that’s up from last year.
But with this weather, things don’t always go as planned.
“The big thing is come prepared, expecting a small delay that way when it doesn’t happen you’re excited, when it does happen, you’re prepared,” says Miller.
A few delays here and there but Miller says it’s nothing major.

And with this slick weather, they’re reminding people to be cautious.
“Sometimes you can get stranded in this kind of weather, make sure you have a cell phone adapter in the car so that you’re not left with a cell phone and the battery goes out and you have no means to contact emergency,” says Dorie Weik.
