Pennsylvania State Police charge five people with a rash of violent robberies and burglaries across three counties that began last August and extended into October. The alleged ring leader is identified as John Hardy Carter, 21, of York County. The other four gang members are Roger E. Strawser Jr., 41, Brian Michael Barnard, 21, both of York County and Kyle Lamar Stauffer, 19, Nicole Marie Kilhefner, 20, both of Lancaster County.
The group face charges in connection with 19 burglaries mostly of homes. Police say they got away with guns, money, jewelry, and electronics adding up to tens of thousands of dollars. The gang is also tied to five armed robberies of stores.
At a Hess Express on September 22th in Brickerville, John Carter allegedly shot at the clerk when he was told that he could not get the money for him. The firearms used were stolen from several residences in Lancaster County. Police say multiple firearms have been recovered.
Most of the crimes happened in Lancaster County, three in York County, and one in suburban Harrisburg. All five are being held at Lancaster County Prison.
Carter is charged in six armed robberies and 18 burglaries. He was sent to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $500,000.
Strawser is charged in three robberies in York and Dauphin counties. His bail is unknown.
Kilhefner, is charged in five burglaries and two robberies. Her bail was set at $200,000.
Stauffer, is charged in 10 burglaries and three robberies. His bail was set at $150,000.
Barnard is charged in seven burglaries. He is in prison in lieu of $200,000 bail.
