A York County jewelry store is spreading a whole lot of cheer this holiday season. Oletowne Jewelers, located at 2157 White Street in West Manchester Township, held a “Magic in Giving” campaign and gave away $40,000 to organizations and individuals in need.
Oletowne distributed the money in celebration of its 40th anniversary. The funds were awarded to 13 people and 18 organizations from around York County. Some of the recipients include Lincolnway Fire Company, Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors and Vietnam Vets of America Chapter 1032.
Several months ago, Oletowne Jewelers asked for nominations. A special, impartial panel then selected the winners.
The need was great across the area. Company spokesman Jamie Bovender says, “If you add up all the amounts that people were asking for in each letter, the total amount eclipsed $230,000. There is a lot of need out there; we wished we could have done more.”
Oletowne representatives received many thank you’s and hugs, and also saw lots of happy tears from the people they were able to help.
