An unruly Shippensburg man had to be Tasered after he slugged a witness and punched a law enforcement officer twice, police said. Tyler McCalom, 22,  is charged with aggravated assault on police, two counts of simple assault, two counts of reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief and public drunkenness.

Police say the incident happened on Dec. 4 along the first block of North Earl Street after McCalom left a Shippensburg bar around 11 p.m. and began jumping the roofs of parked vehicles.

Afterwards McCalom confronted a group of people grilling food along North Earl  Street. During the altercation, police say McCalom threatened a woman with a metal grill lid and then spit on her.

A witness tried to detain McCalom as he attempted to flee– but was punched in the face.

Officers arrived at the scene and as they were taking McCalom into custody–he slugged an officer in the face, twice.

McCalom was eventually subdued after being Tasered.

He was taken to Cumberland County Prison where he posted $20,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 9.
