A York County convenience store clerk faces charges after faking a robbery.  Police responded at about 6:40 am Tuesday to a report of a robbery at the Tom’s convenience store in the 100 block of East Main Street in Dallastown.

The clerk, Brandon Raffensberger told officers that he was alone and was opening the store when four black males walked in wearing masks and hoodies.  According to Raffensberger, one of the suspects went into a back room in the rear of the store.  The other three went up to the counter and demanded cash. One of the suspects had his hand in his pocket indicating that he was armed. Raffensberger said the alleged bandits ran out the door with some cash.

Investigators determined that in fact there was no robbery and that Raffensberger had taken the money himself and falsely reported the robbery. Raffensberger eventually confessed to what he had done.   He was charged by York Area Regional Police with Theft by Unlawful Taking and False reports. He was sent to York County in lieu of bail and a parole retainer.
