A Dauphin County father accused of severely injuring his infant son waives his preliminary hearing. Charles L. McConnell, of Londonderry Township, is charged with Aggravated Assault and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
McConnell was arrested in October after State Police received a call from Penn State Hershey Medical Center staff that the then two month old boy being treated in the emergency room was possibly suffering from “shaken baby syndrome”.
The baby’s injuries consisted of three rib fractures, a fractured right arm, subdural hematoma (bleeding on the brain”, injuries to the ligaments of his neck, blood at the base of his lower spine and a bruise on his lower back. Doctors told investigators that the injuries are consistent with multiple episodes of abuse.
