Man caught on video stealing $11,250 from credit union

Police in Dauphin County accuse a man, who works as an overnight cleaner, of stealing $11,250 from the Members 1st Federal Credit Union in the 8100 block of Derry Street.  Leonard E. Thompson, 58, was arrested by Swatara Township Police earlier this week and charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking.

CU surveillance cameras clearly showed Thompson, while cleaning the credit union before it opened last Wednesday morning, taking the money. In the video, Thompson is seen going into a teller drawer and removing a roll of cash which he then puts into his pocket.

Thompson was taken into custody at his home without incident within a few hours of the bank opening and discovering the theft.

You might as well lay 11 grand in the parking lot at a minimum wage factory with a camera zoomed on it. Who's dumber, the cleaner or the Credit Union?
