Police: Woman lied about being robbed of prescription meds

A York County woman is facing charges after making false claims that she was robbed of her prescription drugs earlier this month.

Mellissa Ann Adams, 44, of Felton, is accused of lying to police about a robbery in which she claimed a man stole her prescription drugs at a Manchester Township pharmacy on Dec. 9.

According to police reports, Adams arranged to meet Jacob Sheckells, 23, of Felton, and sell him 50 of her pain killers for $1,000, but only received $170 during the transaction.

The incident led Adams to police in which she lied about Sheckells robbing her of her prescription medication.

Police initially charged Sheckells with robbery, theft, receiving stolen property and harassment–but those charges have since been dropped. Sheckells is still facing a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

Adams is charged with delivery of a controlled substance and making false reports to law enforcement.
