Power outage caused by hit and run driver

Capture

A hit and run accident was the cause of an extended power-outage in Dauphin County.  It began at about 3:20 am when a tractor trailer hit a PPL pole at the corner of Walnut and North 34th streets in Susquehanna Township.

Township police say the rig, possibly with a Great Dane trailer, shattered the utility pole which pulled down several power lines onto the roadway. The driver of the rig did not stop at the scene.  The stretch of roadway was shutdown until late today while PPL crews replaced the pole and restored the downed lines.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen the crash or know of a tractor trailer with recent damage to call Susquehanna Township Police at (717) 652-8265 or anonymous tips can be left at 909-TIPS.
