Friday is the last day for first-class mail service to ensure it’s delivered by Wednesday.  The U.S. Postal Service has temporarily made Sunday a delivery day.

For folks like Nan Wisotzkey, a trip this week to the post office is a priority.  But Nan’s a little behind.  She says, “One of the reasons, you’ll love this, someone stole our credit card and that put me behind until I waited for a new one.”

Although the Grinch may have halted Nan’s deliveries, the U.S. Post Office is ready to help.

York Post Office Postmaster, Michael Becker says, “The parcel volume has increased that we want to make sure we get everybody’s present, to home, gifts on time.  We’ll take the extra time and spend time on Sunday bringing carriers in on Sunday between 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.”

Nan says, “They make it more convenient.  The older you get, the less you want to run around and drag heavy packages.”

If you don’t need Santa’s little helpers to guarantee your gifts are sent, there’s the self-service center.  The delivery option is growing in popularity and it’s open 24/7.

Becker says, “You can self-serve mail parcels, buy stamps, a drop shoot and if you can’t sleep and want to mail at 3 in the morning, we’re here for you.”

Becker says parcel volume in the area is up by 20% this season compared to last year.  Although Friday is the last day for first-class mail service to ensure delivery by Christmas, overnight shipping is an option at many post offices.
