RECORD TERRITORY: It’s been a wacky first day of winter, with temperatures in the 50s this Saturday along and north of the PA Turnpike and low to middle 60s to the south!
Temperatures this evening and overnight hold steady near 50° early and then begin to bump up a bit toward morning as warmth and moisture nudge in from the south. Expect a few showers here and there into the overnight hours. It gets warmer yet for Sunday. We’re looking at highs in the middle 60s under cloudy skies. The record high of 64° in Harrisburg was set back in 1949, and we may very well break that on Sunday. Scattered showers will dot the area through the day, especially into the afternoon. Some of these showers could bubble up a bit with gusty winds a a few rumbles of thunder too, so stay alert. Keep the umbrellas in the cars as you head out to finish your Christmas shopping.
HOLIDAY FORECAST: Rain from Sunday lingers as spotty showers for Monday. We’ll start mild and near 50°, holding steady or rising a bit for the afternoon. By evening, colder air will slam into the commonwealth, dropping temperatures into the upper 30s overnight. We’re mostly cloudy for the duration.
Christmas Eve looks cold and dry under partly cloudy skies and a chilly breeze. Highs will be in the middle 30s. Christmas Day starts in the low 20s with highs topping out in the low to mid 30s. It’s cold and dry with limited clouds. Enjoy the cold air with your family and friends!
ENDING THE WEEK: Thursday, a disturbance brings some extra clouds as highs touch 40°. We see some colder air filter in for Friday and Saturday under generally sunny skies and high pressure.
