Pennsylvania State Police confirm at least two people were killed in the crash of a light airplane in Adams County.  The aircraft identified as a Piper PA30 Twin Comanche went down at about 5:30 this morning in a cornfield in the 800 block of Old Carlisle Road in Butler Township.

Autopsies on the victims are scheduled for Friday.  The crash was so violent, authorities are counting on dental records and possibly DNA to positively identify the victims.  The aircraft can seat four to six people including the pilot.

“It’s just a pile of tin, so it must have come straight down” says Mike Wertz, who lives at the edge of the field. “I heard this roar and then boom.”

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board is heading up the investigation.
