A Halifax man was arrested Saturday morning after he lied to authorities about being assaulted by a state police trooper during a traffic stop in October, police said.

Kenneth Edward Belle Jr., 25,  is charged with making false reports and making unsworn falsifications to authorities.

Police say Belle hobbled into the Lykens State Police Barracks on Saturday morning to file assault charges against a state trooper who he claimed to have been assaulted by during a traffic stop on Oct. 26.

Belle told investigators that after the trooper issued the citation–he slammed the car door on his leg. Belle claimed the injury caused him to walk with a limp and because of the pain he was unable to sleep at night, police said.

After reviewing dashboard video of the traffic stop–authorities determined that no assault occurred.

According to police reports, Belle stopped limping after he reviewed the video and confessed he lied about the assault because he was mad about the citations.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan 6.
