D.A. investigating officer-involved shooting in Harrisburg

Dauphin County District Attorney Ed Marsico is investigating a fatal shooting involving Harrisburg police on Sunday evening.

It happened around 4:40pm near the intersection of Schuylkill Street and Brensinger Alley in Uptown Harrisburg.

Marsico said officers were investigating a suspicious vehicle, a Ford Ranger pick up, when shots were fired.

A man was hit by the gunfire and later died. He is not being identified pending notification of next of kin.

Forensic investigators spent the evening processing evidence at the scene.

Marsico said counsel for the officers has informed investigators that the officers will not be able to give statements until Tuesday.

The District Attorney’s Office investigates all officer involved shootings to avoid conflicts of interest within the police department.
