A Franklin County man dies in a crash involving his SUV and a tractor trailer. It happened at about 5:35 pm on Lincoln High East, Route 30, just west of Route 233 in Greene Township. State Police say Pedro Ramirez-Serrano, of Fayetteville, was behind the wheel of a 2009 Nissan Rogue, headed westbound at a high rate of speed. He attempted to a pass a 2001 Kenworth rig driven by George Sluss, of North Tazewell, Virgina.
Ramirez-Serrano’s SUV collided with the rear passenger side bumper of the truck, went airborne and spun 180 degrees. The SUV came down on the top of north guardrail. Ramirez-Serrano, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was declared dead at the scene. Sluss was uninjured. The stretch of roadway crash was closed for hours while a State Police Crash Reconstruction Team, investigated.
