An Adams County woman was cited by police after she was caught trying to bring a stun gun on an airplane on New Year’s Day.

A Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officer at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport who was staffing the checkpoint X-ray machine spotted the pink stun gun in the woman’s carry-on bag.  The stun gun was designed to look like a smart phone with a fake keypad and fake screen. The device had two buttons in the location where the call and on/off buttons are typically located on a smartphone—one was marked “LIGHT” and the other button was marked “STUN.”

TSA said it contacted the Maryland Transportation Authority police who responded, confiscated the device, and cited the woman on a state weapons charge.

Her name is not being released.

She was disarmed and cited, then permitted to catch her flight to Los Angeles.
