PennDOT says, J.D. Eckman, Inc. the contractor building the new Lititz Pike bridge replacement project will tomorrow, Wednesday, January 8, close the portion of McGovern Avenue between North Queen Street and the east driveway for the Lancaster Train Station.  It is necessary to close this portion of McGovern Avenue so that the contractor can continue building the new bridge. The road will remain closed until late spring, probably late June, when it is anticipated that the new bridge will be opened to traffic.

McGovern Avenue between Lititz Pike and North Queen Street was originally closed for the Lititz Pike bridge construction project last June. But the contractor reopened the portion of the road between North Queen Street and the east driveway to the train station in late November to help accommodate travelers using the train station over the busy holiday season. McGovern Avenue was scheduled to be closed again on Monday but the unusually cold weather early this week postponed the closure to Wednesday.
