Your safety on the roads is of major concern to police as they search for the person who shot and killed a man along Interstate 81 over the weekend.
Police have yet to catch the person who shot and killed the driver of another car on I-81 early Saturday. Police say until they find the shooter, your safety is at risk.
According to police, Timothy Davison, of Poland, Maine, called 911 just around 2:10 a.m. Saturday. Police say Davison reported being chased by a dark-colored pickup truck in the Northbound lanes of I-81 near exit 3, in Antrim Township.
A short time later, the suspect rammed Davison’s car off the road, onto the median. He then fired several shots at Davison. Davison later died at York Hospital. Pennsylvania State Police say there is no connection between the shooter and the victim. But they do think that because it’s a random act, the shooter could strike again.
Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Rob Hicks says, “The best is use your gut instinct, survival instincts. Whatever you feel is right to get yourself out of the situation as quickly and safely as possible, do it and if you feel threatened, dial 911.”
There was also another road rage incident that happened in Monoghan Township a few hour before the deadly shooting. Authorities say the driver of a dark pickup truck chased another driver, pulled up beside him and fired shots. For now, police are treating the two incidents as related until evidence proves otherwise. The incident is being handled by the Pennsylvania State Police, Carroll Township Police and the FBI.
