The Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education says it’s delaying a proposed weapons policy that would go into effect at all 14 schools.

Leaders for the system met Thursday to talk about the measure, which would allow licensed students and staff to carry weapons on campuses. Those weapons would be allowed in so-called “non-sensitive areas” of the schools — mostly outdoor areas.

The proposal was met with a lot of opposition from the public, with some saying the rule is too restrictive, and others saying it’s too vague.

There’s no word on when the policy will next be discussed, or when the Board of Governors would approve it.
