The City of Lebanon Authority Water Department is repairing a water main break in South Lebanon Twp at the intersection of Metro Drive and Meadow Drive. Less than a dozen customers are currently out of water during the repair.
The water main break occurred at about 6:00 this morning. Area residents may have received some dirty water until the water department was able to shut down the affected water main.
It is a fairly simple water main break. However, since the pipe came apart, we lost pressure in the system and some dirt may have entered the waterline.
The water system in the area will be flushed later today once the water system is put back into service.
As a precaution, the residents in the area are advised to boil their water for the next 48 hours. The Authority must test the water for two consecutive days to check for bacteria before the boil water advisory can be lifted.
The residents in the area were notified by RAPID RESPONSE phone messages that the boil water advisory is in effect.
