A Fayetteville man was arrested Monday after crashing into a Franklin County home and fleeing the scene, police said. Nathanael G. Zimmerman, 37, was taken to Franklin County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail after he was found at his father’s house in Fayetteville.
The crash happened just before 4 a.m. Monday along the 2000 block of Black Gap Road in Greene Township.
Police said Zimmerman was driving north along Black Gap Road when he lost control of his SUV and crashed into the home, causing it to catch fire.
Two adults and a child were able to escape to safety. Their home sustained considerable structural and fire damage. Fire officials deemed the home uninhabitable.
Zimmerman is facing numerous charges including risking catastrophe, driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked and reckless driving.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 21.
