…A WINTER STORM WATCH is in effect for Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, and York counties beginning late tonight through Tuesday night for the potential of 4-8” of snow in spots…

ONE SEASONAL DAY:  Enjoy today, because the arctic chill returns for the foreseeable future!  Highs today will top out in the low 40s with sun giving way to more cloud cover through the day on this Martin Luther King Jr Day.  It’s a bit breezy at times, with some flurries possible as the afternoon progresses.  Tonight, the cold air enters and the chill begins.  Temps drop to the upper teens.

QUICK SNOW CHANCE:  As the arctic plunge begins, a wave aloft will try to develop a storm system that will rapidly strengthen along the coast.  This development begins right over us, which means we’ll likely see some light snow as it begins to form, with moderate/heavy snow picking up through the day, tapering by the evening.  For now, we’re looking at 4-8” along and south of the PA Turnpike with 1-4” tapering quickly to the north.  The trouble with this system is that it has yet to form, which often proves to be tricky in forecasting amounts, so our confidence is not very high on accumulation.  Stay tuned.

FRIGID AIR:  Regardless, Tuesday begins the start of a long stretch of arctic chill.  We’re breezy most of the week too adding to the chill.  Tuesday we don’t budge on the thermometer, remaining in the upper teens.  Wednesday, we’ll be in the single digits to start and teens to finish. We should touch the 20° for Thursday, with some flurries.  Colder air is reinforced for Friday with single digits and teens again.

WEEKEND:  We’ll warm up a bit to the low 30s for both days, but upper level flow is conducive for additional quick clipper systems that will bring clouds and the shot at some light snow.  We’ll monitor as the week progresses.

Have a great week!
