Toddler released from hospital after stabbing in Fairview Township

A 2-year-old boy was released from the hospital over the weekend after being injured during a stabbing in Fairview Township on Jan. 17, police said.

The boys mother, 36-year-old Candis Bradshaw, remains hospitalized at Penn State Hershey Medical Center.

Officers were dispatched to a home along the first block of Foxfire Lane around 8:30 a.m. Friday for a reported stabbing.

According to police reports, Bradshaw slashed the boy twice on both sides of his neck with a large kitchen knife before stabbing herself in chest.

Authorities are currently looking into any mental health issues that may have contributed to the incident.

Criminal charges may follow after appropriate medical and psychological treatments are completed, police said.
