A Perry County man is charged with Criminal Homicide following the death of his girlfriend’s 3 month old daughter. The child was rushed to the hospital on January 18, after EMS personnel responded to a call at a New Bloomfield home for a baby who was not breathing. Hospital emergency room doctors alerted police after discovering injuries related to child abuse. Subsequently Joshua Michael Gross, 33, of New Bloomfield was charged with Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Gross is engaged to the child’s mother.
The child passed away today from her injuries. Those injuries included abusive head trauma consistent with shaken baby syndrome. Because of the child’s death the Perry County District Attorney’s Office upgraded the charges against Gross.
Following arraignment Gross was sent to Perry County Prison where he is being held without bail.
