Rafael Gomz-Echavarria, 21, of Reading is bound over to Dauphin County Court on charges of sexually assaulting a 16 year old girl last August at the Best Western Hotel on Eisenhower Boulevard in Lower Swatara Township.

At a preliminary hearing today the victim, now 17 years old, testified that Gomez-Echavarria raped her while she was staying in the hotel room of Alicia Colon, the coach of the victim’s High School girl’s field hockey team.

Colon was in the area participating in the Keystone State Games as a coach for a girl’s field hockey team. The victim was also visiting the area to watch a relative participate in the games. The victim had received permission from her parents to stay over with Colon for what was described as a “girls night” In addition to the victim, another woman who was an assistant coach at the Keystone Games and also a former teammate of the victim, and that woman’s younger sister were also staying in the hotel room.  At some point Colon and the other woman picked up three men and brought them back to the hotel room. During the course of the night, while the others slept, Gomez-Echavarria allegedly raped the 16 year old victim on the floor of the hotel room.

Gomez-Echavarria is charged with Rape, Sexual Assault, Aggravated Indecent Assault, Indecent Assault, Corruption of Minors and Unlawful Contact with Minors.
