Police investigate shooting along I-81 in Franklin County

State police are on the scene of a shooting along Interstate 81 south in Franklin County.  911 dispatchers received the call around 7 a.m. Sunday for a report of a shooting along  I-81 south near mile marker 18 in Greene Township, police said.

There does not appear to be any injuries related to this shooting, said Trooper Robert Hicks, a state police spokesman.

There is no word yet on any suspects.

I-81 south is closed between Exit 20 and Exit 17. All southbound traffic must exit the interstate at Exit 20.

Detours are in place to help drivers navigate around the scene.

Motorists should expect delays throughout the morning as authorities continue their investigation.

State police say this incident is not related to the  Jan. 4 homicide that claimed the life of 28-year-old Timothy Davison, of Poland, Maine.

Davison was driving along I-81 in Antrim Township when he was shot multiple times and killed.

Detour Information:

The entrance ramp for Interstate 81 at Exit 16 will be on your left. Repeating, Interstate 81 South is closed between Exits 20 and 17. Follow the red detour signs at Exit 20.
