A routine traffic stop in York County leads to the arrest of two New York state men on drug charges. It happened at about 1:34 am last Friday on Route 15 in Franklin Township.  Northern York County Regional Police stopped a 2013 Nissan Altima that was clocked doing 71 mph in a 55 mph zone.

During the stop, the officer smelled an odor of marijuana emanating from the interior of the vehicle. A search of the vehicle uncovered 70 grams, 2.5 ounces, of marijuana.  Police also seized $736 cash. The men were identified as Edward Jason Laplante, 21, of Syracuse and Codey Ronald Pledger, 21, of Mallory were taken into custody.  They are charged with Possession with intent to Distribute Marijuana.  Pledger also faces a summary violation for speeding.

Police say their investigation continues.
