A 17 year old male is charged as an adult in the shooting of a 14 year Lancaster City girl. Police identified and obtained a warrant for Curtis Cummins Anderson, of the 100 block of Church Street yesterday.

During the course of the investigation police identified a Jeep that was apparently connected to the suspect. The vehicle had been stolen earlier in the week from Cedar Acres Drive. The Jeep was located parked in the 400 block of South Christian Street. The vehicle was put under surveillance.

At about 10 o’clock this morning, a detective began following the vehicle throughout the southeast section of the city to the 400 block of South Marshall Street, where it stopped. Police moved in and arrested the driver as he was getting out of the vehicle.  He was identified as Oliver Jordan, 19, of the 400 block of Atlantic Avenue. Jordan was found to be in possession of a 9 mm handgun that had been stolen during a burglary of a home int he 600 block of Charles Road in November 2013.

A passenger in the Jeep jumped out and ran away. The passenger, later identified as Anderson, was found about 20 to 30 minutes later hiding in a set of basement steps in the rear of a home in the 600 block of Clermont Avenue.

So far police have learned that the High Street shooting was a result of a gun battle between Anderson and another group of individuals. The 14 year old shooting victim had been in a group of females walking with Anderson for awhile just prior to the shooting and were not the intended targets.

Charges against Anderson include Aggravated Assault, Firearms not be Carried without a License and Recklessly Endangering Another Person.

Jordan is charged with Receiving Stolen Property, for both the handgun and the Jeep, Firearms not to be Carried without a License, Person’s not to Possess, Use, Sell or Transfer Firearms and Criminal Conspiracy.

Police say their investigations is continuing to identify other shooter or shooters, or anyone else involved in any way with the case.
