The warm up is here!
FINAL CHILLY HOURS: It’s not forever, but for the next week we’re out of the single digits after this morning’s extra chilly start. Expect sunshine to help us climb out of the single digits today, making it to the upper 20s. Clouds slide in from the west late as temps slowly tick down. Overnight, we’re mostly cloudy with lows in the upper teens.
WARMING CONTINUES: Expect mostly cloudy skies Friday with temperatures making a run at the upper 30s. We’ll see a few flurries or sprinkles late in the day, but overall it looks mostly dry.
WEEKEND: Saturday is mostly cloudy. We’ll see a system moving toward us, but we’re on the milder side. Temps climb to the low 40s for highs. We could see some rain mixing with a bit of snow late into the overnight. Sunday starts with a small rain chance, drying out a bit with clouds lingering through the day. Highs top out in the low 40s.
NEXT WEEK: The pattern becomes active yet again. We’re in the middle 30s for highs, but several waves will bring unsettled weather. Monday, snow misses us to the south. Tuesday into Wednesday, a more potent system approaches. We’ll see some snow to rain to snow late Tuesday through Wednesday with this system. Timing, location, and strength of these storms continue to bounce around on the models. We’ll watch it, just be ready for forecast tweaking in the days ahead.
PUNXSY PHIL & PIG SKIN: Sunday is a big day! Groundhog’s Day at headquarters on Gobbler’s Knob in Punxsutawney looks mostly cloudy with a few snow showers. Phil may have a shot at not seeing his shadow, bringing an early spring to believers!
Then, for the Super Bowl in East Rutherford NJ, we’re forecasting temperatures near 40° for kick off under mostly cloudy skies with a light breeze. A few light showers may be closing out with temps falling through the 30s through the game.
