OVERALL: Temperatures moderate over the weekend and turn somewhat colder but seasonal next week.  There will be several opportunities for precipitation next week.  We will be fine tuning all the details in the next few days.

TONIGHT:  Mostly cloudy skies tonight with a calm wind.  Lows will dip to the middle 20s which is closer to average this time of the year.

TOMORROW: Clouds will mix with sunshine and maybe as clouds break up allow for a bit more sunshine later in the afternoon.  Only a slight chance for a shower and temperatures will be much milder in the low 40s.

Hour by Hour

SUNDAY:  Stray showers late morning as the front comes in but most of the moisture falls apart.  Still expect a mild day with highs in the mid 40s and breezy winds shifting from the west to the northwest 10-15 mph.

NEXT WEEK:  An active split flow jet stream pattern is forecast to develop and will dominate the pattern. What does this mean for us?  It means we’ll be dealing with several storm systems.   Sunday’s cold looks to stall to our south Monday.  Question will be how far south. One model is indicating not far enough and has accumulating snow possible as an area of low pressure develops along it.  The others come close and we’ll keep you posted on this through the weekend.  Next system is Tuesday.  It is likely to start out as snow and may accumulate before changing to freezing rain as upper level temps warm but surface temps remain below freezing. Sometime on Wednesday we should see temps warm enough to change the wintry precipitation to rain. Question is how long it takes and how much snow and ice accumulates before the warmer air arrives at the surface. There could be a third system to watch for the following weekend as well.  It looks to bring rain and snow showers.

Ground Hog Day is Sunday. Will he see his shadow and keep winter around longer or will he not, bringing a sign that spring is just around the corner!

SUPER BOWL OUTLOOK:  There could be an isolated shower otherwise; a few scattered clouds and breezy winds with temperatures around the upper 30s at kick off.  Can you guess the kick off temperature?  If so, you could win a $599 gift card from Best Buy!!
