Turnpike Remains Closed Between Gettysburg Pike and Harrisburg West.
The Pa. Turnpike Commission and the Pa. State Police have lifted the speed and trailer restrictions in some areas of the turnpike. However, the reduced speed limit of 45 mph is still in effect from Blue Mountain (Exit #201) to the Delaware River Bridge (Exit #359) as well as the tractor-trailer ban for rigs pulling empty trailers and double trailers.
The restrictions are in place for this area due to the earlier fatal accident that has closed the turnpike between Gettysburg Pike (Exit #236) and Harrisburg West (Exit #242) interchanges in both directions. This area will remain closed until the accident scene is clear and the State Police have finished their investigation. The Turnpike hopes to have the road reopened by noon.
Trees that have fallen onto the roadway between Valley Forge (Exit #326) and Morgantown (Exit #298) interchanges have also required that the speed and trailer restrictions remain in place. Travelers are encouraged to stay in the left lane through this area as trees are being removed from the right lane.
