State of Emergency declared in Columbia Borough

A State of Emergency went into this afternoon for the Borough of Columbia, in Lancaster County.  Borough Mayor Leo Lutz issued the proclamation due to power outages in parts of the borough and the threat of freezing temperatures and strong winds expected overnight.

The Columbia Borough Emergency Management Team is activating shelters in each of the three Borough Fire Companies.

Residents needing emergency shelter are asked to report to one of  the following fire companies:

* Columbia #1 Fire Company, at Front Street south of Locust Street

* Susquehanna Fire Company, at 10th & Manor Street

* Columbia Consolidated Fire Company, at 10th & Mifflin Street.
