Thousands of people are still without power in Lancaster County tonight. The entire Lancaster area seeing some of the worst tree devastation that has affected power lines in years.  Heavy snow followed by  ice weighing on Lancaster County. At one point over 50,000 people were without power and PPL had 800 crew members out trying to restore power.

“ We have called in all available resources from other PPL territories. We have all available contractors reporting there to Lancaster helping especially with tree trimming and we also requested help from outside foreign utilities and we’re negotiating with them to see if they can free up crews and come help us,” says John Levitski, PPL Lancaster

Warming stations opened their doors throughout the county as it got dark for those in need. While others decided to stay home and stick it out.

“ It really hasn’t been that bad but it’s going to get bad if we don’t get it back until Saturday at 11 pm,” says Terry Wiley of Manheim Township

PPL says they are hoping to have 90% of customers restored by Friday and 100% restored by Saturday evening
