…A Winter Storm WARNING is in effect from until 4PM today for Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Mifflin, Perry, and York counties…
THE WORST IS OVER!: The steady, heavy, wintry weather mess is wrapping up across the area as of 8AM. Early morning freezing rain, sleet, and snow have made for a dangerous, icy, slippery mess through these early morning hours. Ice accumulation has blown transformers, dropped power lines, and knocked down trees and branches. Heavier rain has allowed for pooling on the roadways too.
As this storm system races away today, a few spotty rain or sleet showers may pass through midday, but drying ensues. Tonight, temperatures drop into the teens. Roads may re-freeze and cause problems. Also, we add a breezy wind into the picture, which may help to pull down some more power lines and trees.
NEEDED BREAK: Thursday and Friday will be dry, hooray! Temps will be on the chilly side with highs only in the mid to upper 20s and lows in the teens.
WEEKEND: Saturday looks chilly and dry to get started. It’s mostly cloudy with a few snow showers developing later in the day. Sunday, snow looks likely. For now, we do expect some accumulation but it’s too soon for totals. No signs point toward a huge snow maker at this time. The weekend temps are near 30°.
NEXT WEEK: We’re watching for more systems to bring wet or snowy weather next week, but for now, we look to start the week chilly and dry with highs in the upper 20s.
Stay safe today. It’s very slick outside. Stay home if you can. Please SAFELY send us your reports via Facebook and Twitter.
