Compared to his 50-year broadcasting career with the New York Mets, Ralph Kiner’s Hall of Fame playing career with the Pirates was relatively short. He certainly made a major impact during his time in Pittsburgh. Kiner is the only player in baseball history to lead the majors in home runs for six consecutive seasons. He accomplished the feat from 1947 through 1952. A sciatica condition forced him to retire early at the age of 32 in 1955. He started broadcasting with the Mets in their first season of 1962. Kiner passed away at the age of 91 in his home in Rancho Mirage, California.
