Girl forced to drink 2 liters of soda dies; parents charged with murder

(WGN) A couple in Tennessee has been charged with their daughter’s murder after a 25-month investigation.

Alexa Linboom, 5, died in January of 2012.

Police say her father and stepmother forced her to drink more than two liters of grape soda and water in less than two hours as punishment for sipping some of her stepmother’s drink.

Doctors say the massive amount of fluids caused her brain to swell and rupture.

Randall and Mary Vaughn will appear in court Friday.

Police say Alexa was living with her father for just three months because of neglect at her other home.

Such a shame! And then there's people who can't have children of their own and would be so grateful to have them!

Let the punishment fit the crime. Hang by the neck until dead.

Assuming her other home was with the biological mother, she had two asshole parents in two separate homes.

looks that way. someone should have stepped in – in any part of her immediate family someone else could have been more suitable for her care!
