Police officer hit by a car in Mount Joy Township

A Mount Joy police officer was hit by a car while directing traffic Tuesday night.

Police say officer Jason Smith was directing traffic on E. Main Street at 6:43 p.m., for pedestrians that were attending a funeral viewing.

The unidentified driver hit Smith with his car sending him to the ground. Smith suffered a back and leg injury, police say

Smith was transported to Lancaster General Hospital where he was treated and released.

State Police are now investigating this incident and ask if anyone has any information to call 717-299-7650.

    I seen a officer is in trouble for running over a man in Williamsport PA , I think that he stopped and rendered aid.

    Check the driver's text message time logs and BAC.
