A 16 year old girl is hospitalized with a gunshot wound to her head after a shooting incident in downtown Carlisle.  It happened just before 3 o’clock this afternoon along the first block of Pomfret Street in downtown. Multiple shots were fired by unknown assailants.  One of the flying bullets grazed the juvenile’s head as she walked toward the entrance of Buzz Express. She was rushed to Carlisle Regional Medical Center where she is listed in stable condition.  An unidentified woman escaped injury after a bullet went through her clothing and grazed her arm.

Carlisle Mayor Tim Scott released a statement:

“Carlisle Police believe that the victim was an innocent by-stander who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. There is strong evidence from eyewitness accounts that the intended target of the shooting was another individual who was further up the street. There is also evidence that this was not a random act of violence and the perpetrators knew their intended target.”

The mayor went to say that the police investigators are following strong leads in the case. Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Carlisle Borough Police at (717) 243-5252.
