A Harrisburg man will stand trial on charges of Animal Fighting and Corruption of Minors.  The charges against Anthony Brett Bellamy were bound over for trial this morning by District Justice Paula Correal.

The incident began on January 26, when police were dispatched to the area of Kittatinny and Evergreen streets. Police observed  Bellamy, along with two other juvenile males, fighting two dogs in his backyard on the 300 block of South 13th street. Growling and yelping could be heard coming from what appeared t be a makeshift fighting ring enclosed by plywood.

Bellamy, was observed holding the leash of his dog, a brindle Bull Mastiff named “Money” while one of the other males held the leash of a black Pit Bull. They pushed the dogs together, encouraging them to fight while the third individual taped the fight with his cell phone.

Realizing that police were present, the two juveniles ran, but one was apprehended. The snow covered area of the backyard was covered in blood, and the two dogs faces, chests, and necks were covered with blood. Both dogs also appeared to have fresh puncture wounds and cuts and one was limping.

Judge Correal ordered Bellamy to have no further contact with animals as a condition of his bail.
