NASA aiding California during severe drought

NASA is teaming up with California to help the state monitor and respond to one of the worst droughts on record.

These are pictures of Folsom Lake, near Sacramento.

You can see the difference between the two images.

The one on the left is from 2011 when the lake was at 97% capacity.

The one on the right is from last month, at 17% capacity.

NASA is lending California resources to help water managers get better forecasts and information on the drought conditions.
