An early morning report of shots fired leads to the arrest of a Harrisburg man. Susquehanna Township Police reported to the call at about 1:19 am this morning in the 3700 block of Walnut Street.  A resident had been awaken by several gunshots outside and had seen a car leaving the area. Police checked the area, but did find any victims or other evidence of a shooting.

Less than an hour later a patrol officer spotted a vehicle traveling east in the 3700 block of Chestnut Street and then heard several gunshots. A short time later police stopped a car traveling on west on Walnut Street.

The driver, Sixto Diaz, Jr., 25, of Harrisburg, was visibly intoxicated. Police also noticed spent shell casings in the car as well as an empty holster on the back seat. Checking further police found a 9 mm handgun in the glove box along with ammunition for the gun. An uncooperative Diaz was taken into custody.  He taken to Central Booking to await arraignment on charges that included DUI, Person Not to Possess Firearm, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Reckless Endangering, Resisting Arrest and Driving on Suspended License.  He was sent to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of $200,000 bail and a State Parole Detainer.
