Police in York C0unty arrest two men on multiple drug charges following a routine traffic stop in West York Borough. A patrol officer stopped a white Ford Focus with two men inside, headed eastbound in the 100 block of West Market Street at about 9:24 am Tuesday. The vehicle had faulty/malfunctioning head and tail lamps.
The officer noticed the men attempting to hide items as he approached the car. While talking to the men, the officer could smell a strong odor of marijuana.
The driver of the car, identified as Jonathan Gonzalez, 26, of Phoenix, Arizona, was driving without a driver’s license. The passenger, identified as Timothy Rier, Jr., of Manchester Township, had two active arrest warrants. Both men were taken into custody.
Police impounded the Ford. This morning police executed a search warrant on the car. They found a large cardboard box containing ten large individually heat sealed bricks/packages of marijuana that were approximately 15 inches long, 10 inches wide and 5 inches thick. Some of the bricks were labeled as “Super Kush.” The total amount of marijuana weighed over ten pounds, with an approximate street value of between $15,000.00 and $20,000.00.
Charges against both men include Possession with Intent to Deliver, Possession of a Controlled or Counterfeit Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Gonzalez is also charged with Drivers Required to be Licensed.
Following arraignment Gonzalez was sent to York County Prison in lieu of $150,000 bail. Bail for Rier was set at $100,000. The Ford Focus remains impounded pending forfeiture proceedings.
