Governor Tom Corbett underwent a successful surgical procedure to repair an abdominal hernia this morning at Allegheny General Outpatient Surgical Center in Pittsburgh.
The procedure, performed by general surgeon, Dr. John J. Raves, was considered to be routine for the treatment of an abdominal hernia. Raves described the procedure as successful and said Corbett was resting comfortably. First Lady Susan Corbett was with her husband at the surgical center during the procedure.
Corbett will resume his duties immediately upon his release, recuperate at his home in Shaler Township over the weekend and return to Harrisburg on Monday.
