Who says you need a ticket to watch the Oscars live? We’ve got your covered on FOX 43 with a look into the hottest features of the year.  From a captain, to a slave and even “her.”

The most star-studded event is just days away.  On Sunday, the Oscars will take over Hollywood and here in Central Pennsylvania we’re helping you pick the best motion picture.

Our pick are?….Deciding which of the 9 nominated movies will walk away with the Best Motion Picture of the Year is half the fun.  Our movie critic, Ryan Dailey, of South York Cinemas helps us tackle the films.

First up, Captain Phillips where actor Tom Hanks walks away with nothing.  Dailey says, “This is no Forest Gump.”

Nebraska and Her are on the list, but critics are talking more about 12 Years a Slave.  Dailey says, “Hard to watch at moments, but it’s a deep film, strike emotional chords and anyone watches, it’s acted very well.”

Three of the films feature best actresses who can do no wrong.  Gravity with Sandra Bullock, Judi Dench in Philomena and Amy Adams in American Hustle.  No best actresses in Wolf of Wall Street, but Leonardo DiCaprio’s role is wild!

Dailey says, “He’s ruthless, he would do anything just to make some money.”

Up against Leo, Matthew McConaughey in Dallas Buyers Club.

Dailey says, “I think the transformation the actors went in order to fulfill these roles, because McConaughey lost so much weight, you would believe he had aids.”

Finally our picks.  Dailey says Dallas Buyers should win, but 12 Years a Slave will win.  Rebecca wants Wolf of Wall Street, but believe 12 Years a Slave will win.
